Linda has watched my dogs on several occasions and I can't say enough about how well she takes care of all of my mutts, my cat and even our snake! She is attentive and caring...the dogs love her and they are well loved by her!!! Utilize this special lady with your pets and your happy home will stay that way! (2008-10-08 11:12:50)

Two years ago I was down and out. I just lost my job and had to move.. I once again almost lost my beloved pets forever. I called every place imaginable to find AFFORDABLE, TRUSTWORTHY care for my pets. I needed to have them boarded for a few months. I was desperate, running out of time and money. Mind you my cats are 12 and 13 I said my last prayer and called the Martinez Animal Shelter and spoke with a volunteer. I was in tears. One of the volunteers tried to cover the phone and I could hear her say "Linda"! I have a lady on the line that has very little money and needs help with kenneling her cats while she gets on her feet. Linda got on the phone and with a soft voice said "hello" and asked a few questions. There was no discussion of money. I burst into tears and waited for her response and she said, Yes, I will help you! She was my Angel from heaven. My two cats were given another chance and the best care any animal could possibly receive.. The house was immaculate, a nice cat room with lots of toys and a wonderful comfy bed. In the living room there were more toys and a nice chair to curl up in by the fireplace. My cats got the best treatment and the best care. I could never ever go anywhere else. Not enough money could pay this woman what she deserves. I would only have her watch my pets. When I came to visit my pets at her house they were so happy playing they hardly noticed I was there until I got them home. She is a true humanitarian and we are living happily ever after!!! Linda is easy to work with, and Rocky clearly loves her. When she picks him up (I'm recovering from knee surgery, so cannot give him his mid-day walk), she treats him with affection, and her post-walk written reports are great. (2008-10-02 07:51:30)
Linda Burkett has been a Volunteer with Contra Costa County Animal Services since October 2006. Her enthusiasm, natural animal instincts, friendly demeanor, and ability to learn quickly resulted in her excelling at not only working as a shelter Cat Socializer and Dog Walker, but also working well with the public conveying important information regarding animal care and treatment. She joined our Foster Care team and has been responsible for successfully fostering more than two dozen kittens - preparing them for adoption placement. Her good public relations skills and animal savvy have resulted in her being not only an effective volunteer for Animal Services, but have led to her establishing herself in the pet care industry with her own business.
Linda is hard-working and she shows the maturity, dedication, and professionalism that have helped to make the Volunteer Program a success at Animal Services.
Sincerely,
Cindy Smith
